Laguna Hills, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/25/2009 -- With more than 30 years of professional calligraphy experience, artist and instructor Linda Schneider is releasing her debut stamp line through Stampington & Company. This new collection, entitled The Flourishing Quill, features 13 stamps based on Schneider’s “ornate pictorial calligraphy” designs, including decorative elements, feminine figures and artistic portraits.

Linda Schneider is an internationally-recognized professional calligrapher and watercolor artist based in Liberty Lake, Washington. Her original artwork has been featured in numerous issues of Somerset Studio magazine and on the cover of a national medical journal, as well as in exhibits in both national and international sites, including The Museum of Art and Culture in Spokane, Washington and the International Art Exhibition in Houston, Texas. She is also a commissioned artist, whose designs have been featured in exclusive product lines for Papyrus and Authentic Models. In 2009, she shared her techniques in “Designing Faces, Figures, Florals, and More,” a book which teaches readers how to emulate her style of pointed pen calligraphy.

“Whenever we consider artwork for new stamp collections, we look for those unique touches that elevate the designs above other stamps that are currently on the market,” says Kellene Giloff, Stampington & Company’s President and Publisher. “By combining her top-notch calligraphy skills with fine art techniques, Linda is able to create elegant images that are truly one-of-a-kind. After having featured her artwork in the pages of our magazines for many years, we are delighted to have her join our family of stamp artists with the release of her debut stamp collection, The Flourishing Quill.”

The Flourishing Quill includes 13 wood-mounted stamps (retail prices range from $8.95 to $17.95). The entire collection is available for purchase directly from Stampington & Company (http://www.stampington.com or call 1-877-STAMPER) as well as select retailers of rubber stamps.

Laguna Hills, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/25/2009 -- Simple living advocate and founder of MaryJanesFarm magazine MaryJane Butters is sharing her love of a back-to-basics way of living in a new column in Somerset Life magazine. Each issue of this quarterly magazine, published by Stampington & Company, encourages readers to elevate even the most ordinary moments of our lives into extraordinary ones with simple projects, Creative Living Ideas and more.

MaryJane Butters and her expansive farm have been featured in National Geographic (December, 1995), and her sustainable way of living has been chronicled in three books and her magazine, MaryJanesFarm, which launched in 2002. Most recently, she was featured on the CBS “Early Show” to show viewers the glamorous side of camping (also known as “glamping”). She spreads her message of organic and environmentally conscious living through creative recipes, décor projects, sewing patterns, and more in all of her endeavors.

Butters’ first column appeared in the Autumn ’09 issue of Somerset Life (released on October 1, 2009), and detailed her love of picnics. Entitled “MaryJane’s Perfect Picnic,” the article shared a glimpse of MaryJane’s childhood memories of family picnics and also gave readers tips to help them prepare for their own beautifully-themed picnics. Her second feature, which will be featured in the Winter ’10 issue (available on January 1, 2010), focuses on “The Art of Bathing,” and incorporates her romantic, outdoor bathing rituals.

“With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it’s easy to forget that we can all infuse a little beauty into our lives,” says Stampington & Company’s Publisher and President, Kellene Giloff. “MaryJane Butters’ simple and natural way of living reminds all of us to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of life, and pushes us to create our own extraordinary moments. We are honored to be able to share her voice with readers around the world through her contributions to Somerset Life.”

Editor-in-Chief Makes an Impression with Whimsical New Stamp Line

Laguna Hills, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/14/2009 -- After being at the helm of top-ranked art and crafting magazines for nearly five years, Stampington & Company’s Editor-in-Chief, Jenny Doh, is releasing her first stamp line. This new collection, entitled CRESCENDOh DOOhDLES, features 40 stamp images based on Doh’s original doodles, including birdcages, dresses, banners, and other decorative elements.

Jenny Doh heads Somerset Studio — the mixed-media publication ranked #2 in its category by Borders — as well as the popular art-to-wear magazine, Belle Armoire, and is also Director of Publishing for Stampington & Company. In 2009, she has overseen and directed the launching of several new titles including Art Quilting Studio, apron•ology, Art Journaling, and GreenCraft Magazine. Doh received her bachelor’s degree from UC Irvine and master’s degree from UCLA. Aside from working and spending time with her family, Jenny is active in the arts and recently completed her term as President of the University of California, Irvine Alumni Association.

“As a stamper myself, creating my own line of art stamps has been a personal dream of mine for years,” says Jenny Doh. “In developing the CRESCENDOh DOOhDLES, I wanted to capture the doodling trend that is so popular right now while still maintaining a sort of whimsical elegance that would speak to stampers. These stamps are unique enough to take center stage on a hand-stamped card while still having enough ‘oomph’ to stand out on a complex art journal page.”

CRESCENDOh DOOhDLES includes four Clearly Impressed transparent stamp sheets (retail price ranging from $14.95 to $17.95). The entire collection is available for purchase directly from Stampington & Company (http://www.stampington.com or call 1-877-STAMPER) as well as select retailers of rubber stamps. On August 1, 2009, Stampington & Company will release a new, “green”-themed publication entitled GreenCraft Magazine. This eagerly-anticipated title will showcase more than 200 of projects made from recycled materials submitted by crafters from around the globe.

Highlighting the “green-crafting” trend currently sweeping the art world, GreenCraft Magazine will show readers how to repurpose usually discarded items into creative gifts, home décor pieces and more. Each project will be shown in detail through full-color photographs paired with in-depth instructions to allow readers to recreate their favorite projects at home. Sample projects showcased in this 144-page issue include elegant window decorations crafted from recycled coffee filters, a purse knitted from strips of old T-shirts, paper sacks repurposed into chic gift packaging, and a burlap coffee sack transformed into an apron. Keeping in the spirit of ecologically conscious creations, the issue will be printed on recycled paper.

“GreenCraft Magazine will take the art of recycling and reusing to a new level,” says Stampington & Company’s Publisher and President, Kellene Giloff. “The projects featured in each issue will be ‘eco-chic’ – not just ecologically-friendly, but also imaginative and superbly-executed. With all of the environmental concerns that our planet faces, we aim to challenge artists and crafters to infuse a little ‘green’ into all of their projects.”

GreenCraft Magazine will be released on August 1, 2009 and will be available on newsstands in the “Craft & Hobby” section, or directly through Stampington & Company online at http://www.stampington.com or over the phone at 1-877-782-6737. On June 1st, they will launch Art Quilting Studio, a semi-annual special issue that will focus on art quilting in all of its forms, including fabric quilts, sewn mixed-media pieces and wearable art projects.

Each 144-page issue of Art Quilting Studio will provide detailed photographs and instructions to fuel artists and quilters to delve into emerging trends in art quilting. Artists from around the world will be featured in the premier issue, which also showcases innovative surface treatments and quilting techniques. With a focus on close-up details, Art Quilting Studio will display dozens of quilted art pieces, including decorative and wearable samples, created using both machine and hand-stitched elements.

“In recruiting art for our publications, we began to realize that there was a movement within the quilting community that wasn’t being represented in other quilting magazines,” says Kellene Giloff, Stampington & Company’s President and Publisher. “Traditional quilters and mixed-media artists were sharing techniques and exploring each others’ art forms, which resulted in unique and innovative quilted art. We knew that we had to share these pieces with our readers, and present them in a way that made them both accessible and inspiring to new and experienced quilters alike.”

“Though I had created quilts for myself and my family, my passion for art quilting really took shape as I became the editor for our special art quilt publication titled Material Visions,” says Jenny Doh, Stampington & Company’s Editor-in-Chief and Director of Publishing. “As I coordinated works from various artists, my respect for the art of quilting widened to include artists who were imaginatively incorporating techniques and mediums from other disciplines. The quilts that were submitted were more than just fabric and thread – these pieces represented the heart and soul of art quilting. It is in this same spirit that we developed Art Quilting Studio, to provide a forum for the cross-pollination of ideas throughout the art communities.”

Art Quilting Studio will be available semi-annually beginning on June 1st, moving to a quarterly release schedule in 2010. The premier issue will be available on newsstands or directly from Stampington & Company at http://www.stampington.com or by calling 1-877-STAMPER. Marie Osmond has been entertaining since she made her debut on “The Andy Williams Show” when she was only 3 years old. She has since gone on to have a successful career as a musician and entertainer, recently appearing on the hit show “Dancing with the Stars.” Aside from her talents as a performer, Marie is also an avid quilter, sewer and doll-collector. She has released signature fabric collections through Quilting Treasures, a line of sewing machines through Janome, a collection of Essential Storage solutions, and her own exclusive brand of designer dolls. Her studio, located within her Las Vegas home, features an eclectic blend of family heirlooms, memorabilia and modern treasures from which she draws inspiration.

Along with the studio of Marie Osmond, this 160-page issue of Where Women Create invites readers to explore the creative spaces of ten other artistic women, including actress and designer Melissa Biggs, host of “DIY Scrapbooking” Sandi Genovese, Native American philanthropist and founder of the Adopt-a-Native-Elder Program Elizabeth Clah, and painter and mixed-media artist Alisa Burke. In addition to rich, full-color photographs and insightful stories, readers will also discover unique organizational ideas, product reviews, tips for finding artistic inspiration, and occasional how-to projects in every volume.

“Through her talent, creativity and giving nature, Marie Osmond embodies the spirit of Where Women Create,” says Stampington & Company’s Publisher and President, Kellene Giloff. “For more than 15 years, we have had the privilege of showcasing the artwork of hundreds of creative, courageous, ground-breaking, and talented women in our publications, and we are proud to add Marie to that list. She is an icon for many women, and I know that our readers will enjoy being able to take a glimpse inside of her artistic sanctuary.”
