Hollister Creative a ‘Spotlight’ Company in ‘Progress 2010’ Publication Sponsored by Main Line Chamber of Commerce

Marketing communications company Hollister Creative is a “Spotlight” company in the “Progress 2010” section of the weekly Main Line Times newspaper. The article explores how the company overcame a major challenge by adjusting its marketing strategy and rebranding.

Wynnewood, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/26/2010 -- Hollister Creative, a marketing communications company located on Philadelphia’s Main Line, is a “Spotlight” company in the March 25 “Progress 2010” section of the weekly Main Line Times newspaper. The article explores how the company overcame a major challenge by adjusting its marketing strategy and rebranding.

“Progress” is an annual special section about area business sponsored by the Main Line Chamber of Commerce. This year’s theme is “Turning the Corner.” All of the articles in the section focused on the ways that individual businesses and business associations have maintained forward progress through the economic recession and the steps they are taking to prepare for growth now that the economy is finally turning the corner.

The article about Hollister Creative explains the challenge the company faced when the onset of the recession in early 2008 caused the financial condition of its many clients in the newspaper industry to deteriorate at an accelerated pace. At that time, Hollister had nearly 300 newspaper clients across the country, including 44 of the 50 largest papers. Newspapers accounted for roughly 50 percent of Hollister’s revenue.

In the article, company co-owners Kim and Peter Landry talk about the ways they adjusted the company’s marketing strategy to raise awareness of Hollister Creative’s expertise in website design, web-based publications, email newsletters and social media. The company’s client base is now better diversified among corporations, nonprofits, foundations, associations, cultural institutions, schools and social service organizations.

Hollister Creative Gives Workshop on Facebook “friendraising” to Nonprofit Volunteer Recruiter Greater Philadelphia Cares

Training presented on opportunities of social media

Wynnewood, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/16/2010 -- Hollister Creative, a Philadelphia area marketing communications firm, recently trained staff and volunteer leaders of Greater Philadelphia Cares (GPC) in the use of Facebook for “friendraising.” GPC is the largest provider of volunteer services in the Greater Philadelphia region, with more than 80 partner agencies benefiting from the work of volunteers it has recruited.

Now in its 20th year, Hollister Creative continues to expand the marketing communications services it offers to for-profit and nonprofit clients by combining new and traditional media in whatever blend works best. Though developed for nonprofits — for which social media presents exciting new opportunities — the Hollister workshop is available to benefit all organizations.

Hollister studied how strategic use of a Facebook fan page could help Greater Philadelphia Cares raise awareness about volunteering, strengthen the sense of community among current volunteers and soft-sell prospective volunteers on the rewards of service. Then Hollister created two highly specific, easy-to-follow action plans; one for GPC leaders and staff, who would administer the fan page; another for the organization’s strongest supporters, who would become the first fans. Together, staff and supporters are propelling the page to popularity by posting news, pictures and comments, and by bringing their friends and fellow volunteers on board.

“Through its fan page, GPC is leveraging the power of its biggest fans to pump up the volume on a 24/7 conversation about volunteering in Philadelphia,” says Hollister President Kim Landry. “Inviting prospects to join a conversation is a very soft sell that appeals especially to the under-35 audience — an important audience for GPC.”

Hollister presented its action plans in a private coaching session with GPC leaders and in a Facebook “friendraising” workshop for GPC volunteers. The workshop was informal, enthusiastic and highly interactive — much like Facebook itself. Half the attendees were active Facebook users and half were skeptics. By the end of the workshop, all the skeptics had become enthusiasts.

Hollister Managing Editor Martha Michaela Hutchman Brown, who co-moderates Hollister’s own fan page on Facebook, noted, “In the few weeks since we provided this training, Greater Philadelphia Cares has increased its Facebook fan base considerably, engaged current volunteers in a productive conversation and attracted the attention of some soon-to-be-volunteers.”

Pennsylvania Perinatal Partnership Taps Hollister Creative for Campaign About Depression During & After Pregnancy

The Pennsylvania Perinatal Partnership (PPP) chose Philadelphia area marketing communications firm Hollister Creative to launch a website and publish a booklet raising public awareness about depression during and after pregnancy. Hollister Creative developed the campaign slogan “Depression Steals the Real You,” and wrote and designed the booklet and the website, www.DepressionStealsTheRealYou.org.

Wynnewood, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/19/2009 -- The Pennsylvania Perinatal Partnership (PPP) tapped the writers and designers at Hollister Creative to launch a website and publish a booklet raising public awareness about depression during and after pregnancy. Hollister Creative, a Philadelphia area marketing communications firm, developed the campaign slogan “Depression Steals the Real You,” and wrote and designed the booklet and the website, http://www.DepressionStealsTheRealYou.org.

The PPP is an organization of health professionals working to improve the health of women and children in Pennsylvania through education, advocacy and collaboration. Funding to develop the content and design the booklet and website came from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.

“We hope this public awareness campaign encourages women who have perinatal depression to get help,” said Joanne Craig and Kate Maus, Co-Chairs of the PPP.

At http://www.DepressionStealsTheRealYou.org, site visitors can read four powerful personal
stories about women struggling with perinatal depression, how it affected partners, family members and friends, and what led those women to get help so they could start feeling like themselves again.

The website also provides information about the condition and its symptoms, why many women don’t seek help, and where to get help or learn more. A 10-question quiz helps pregnant women, new mothers, their families and friends learn whether they or someone they know is at risk of perinatal depression.

The booklet can be downloaded from the website and viewed on a computer or printed out. The booklet and website content are identical.

Hollister Creative previously worked with the PPP to design the organization’s website, htt://http://www.PaPerinatal.org. That site has resources for health professionals concerned with improving pregnancy outcomes in Pennsylvania as well as resources for women and families on having a healthy pregnancy.
